My name is Kaaleb Krieger, a Sophomore at Mt. Vernon High School. I have grown up in typical small town Indiana where we go to church every Sunday, we respect our elders and everyone we meet is family.
I've been competing in sports since I was 4 years old and I have a passionate love for baseball. I was introduced to catching in my second year of little league because I wasn't scared of the ball and nobody else wanted to fill the spot. From the moment I suited up I fell in love behind the plate. This is my sanctuary. There is nothing like going to practice in the spring and playing the gentleman's sport with your best friends. The feel of the leather mitt, smell of fresh-cut grass and the desire to make this season better than the last drives me to compete above my last performance.
I had the amazing opportunity to start as a catcher for every Freshman game last season and 50% of the Junior Varsity season. I also started every Junior Legion game in the summer season. I'm also proud to be a multi-sport athlete. I have been playing football since I was 6 years old and earned a Varsity letter last season as a freshman.
I am a team player and I compete at the highest level when the game is on the line. Catching is my primary position but I will play anywhere I am put to help the team. I may not be the best at that position but I will try my best to be the best.
My goal is to be the first in my family to earn a college degree and I will obtain that goal whether I play baseball or not. I love to be challenged mentally as well as physically.
In conclusion, I am confident that I can adapt to most programs and be an asset to any team from Junior College to Division I. Thank you for your consideration.
