Matias Castillo ‘27 Recruiting Profile

Personal Statement

Hi I am Matías Castillo.  I was born in Guatemala on April 1st, 2008.  My family consits of my Dad (Luis), my Mom (Ana), my two older sisters (Erika and Paulina).  We are a very tight nit family as we do everything together and support each other.  Erika is a Med Student at a local College in Guatemala and Paulina is a Junior in High School.

I started playing organized baseball at the age of three.  My love for the game comes from Mom and Dad, as my Dad used to play organized Fastpitch Softball and we as a family went to every game we could.  I just fell in love with the game and got early admission into a baseball academy.  Every year, as a family we take vacations to the US to see MLB stadiums.  I currently stand at 18 stadiums visited.    I have played for the National of Guatemala and two baseball academies throught my career.  

I am a good and responsible student because I know that with a good education I can have a bright future.   That is why I am the perfect student athlete because I want to play but I know I have to have the grades.

I dream of playing Division I Baseball.  My Dad took me to his alma mater (University of Miami) to see a game and I just loved the atmosphere.  I really want to strive at being the best student athlete I can.  Finally, I am a very coachable and outgoing person that wants to shine.
