Personal Statement

My goal is too receive a scholarship to play college baseball and/or on an academic scholarship. Then if possible, have the opportunity to play professional baseball. I am a hard worker on and off the field. I work out at least five times a week to improve my strength and my skills. I am a leader on the field by encouraging my teammates to work hard and to do their best. I realize that school is very important, so I work hard to maintain a high GPA.

PG Grade: 8 William Angstman is a 2018 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-3 215 lb. frame from Marion, IA who attends Xavier. Large frame with broad shoulders, longs limbs and present strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands in line with the plate and works over front side aggressively. Medium arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Solid arm speed with fastball offering showing good downhill tilt with some natural cut to glove side in the mid 70's to low 80's, topped at 82 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with tight spin and sharp downward depth in the low 70's. Pitched off curveball well and consistently kept hitters off balance while pounding the strike zone. Outstanding student.

Named to the Rawlings Top Prospect List: William Angstman is a 2018 RHP/3B/1B with a 6-3 215 lb. frame from Marion, IA who attends Xavier HS. Large frame with long limbs and a solid build. Shows present strength, project for more with continued maturity. Ran a 7.26 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to leg lift delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side at gather. Utilizes lower half well while driving to the plate. Carries momentum well through finish and maintains balance throughout. Creates a compact arm circle back at separation and releases from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball has solid downward plane to the plate with some cutting action in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 80 mph. Curveball had 11/5 shape with good spin and solid depth when maintaining arm speed through finish. Also flashed a changeup in the low 70's that had solid cutting action down in the zone. Consistently mixed pitches well throughout each inning effectively keeping hitters off balance. Frame and arm action project for additional velocity with continued physical development. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing compact footwork while surrounding the baseball. Funnels the baseball cleanly with developing fluidity while working through transfer. Releases from a high three-quarters slot topping at 82 mph. Throws generated good carry across the infield with accuracy to the bag. Right handed hitter with a spread, slightly crouched stance. Loose, extended swing plane through extension with a two handed finish. Primarily used a mid-field approach and consistently generated rising line drives between the outfield gaps. Shows present bat speed and strength and created hard, loud contact to all fields. Stays balanced and repeated mechanics and plane well. Outstanding student. Named to the 2016 Midwest Underclass Showcase Top Prospect List. PG Grade 8

William Angstman is a 2018 RHP/ with a 6-2 202 lb. frame from Marion, IA who attends Xavier HS. Large frame, strong build, clear sign of present strength. Ran a 7.48 60-yard dash. Primary pitcher that throws from a high 3/4 arm slot, leg lit and elbow pinch together during delivery. Gets good direction with lower half and stays balanced throughout delivery. Fastball has slight arm side run at times, generates downhill angle. 11/5 curveball shape, good depth. From the infield, gets around the ball, does a nice job of moving through the baseball, good glove work, solid carry on throws across. At the plate, right-handed hitter that starts with a high hand set. Hands pull in close on swing, stays inside the baseball, good balance in swing, has rhythm, some raw pull side power. Grades out higher as a pitcher. Excellent student. PG Grade 7.0

8/4/15- 6-foot-2, 200-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Good body control and tempo to delivery. Short clean arm action. Lands hard across body creating cross-fire delivery. Varying cut and run on fastball at 77-79 mph. 11/5 breaking ball with gradual break at 68-71 mph. Changeup showed cut action at 68-72 mph. 7.5 runner. No stride approach. Small hand and weight load. Solid path to contact. Limited extension through ball. Middle of field approach. 81 mph exit velocity off tee. Fields deep across body. Average range. Throws show carry across infield with accuracy to bag. 79 mph arm strength.
