Personal Statement
Hello, My name is Austin Simpson and I am 6'4" tall first baseman. I am a multi-sport athlete but baseball is my focus and something that I want to pursue after high school. My Freshman year, I was able to be the leading scorer for the varsity basketball team scoring 298 points, 2nd leader in rebounds, and received 2nd team all-conference. Also, in Baseball I was the starting first baseman for the varsity team, finished with a .368 batting average, a .519 slugging average, 1st team all-conference and 2nd team all-district honors. I started varsity football as an offensive lineman as well.
I am a leader on every team I am on, and I will work hard to continue developing as a player and person. I want to contribute, and enjoy high level competition. I have had to overcome a few things in my life that have taught me adversity may come but it's all how you handle something in the moment to determine if you are a champion. Having dyslexia creates compassion for others who have learning disabilities and this is one of the biggest reasons I want to work as a special education teacher in the future.
