I am 17 years old and a junior in high school. I attended Wichita Collegiate my freshman year. I transferred to Andover High for my sophomore year. Unfortunately my sophomore season was cancelled due to Covid 19. I enjoy the competitiveness of athletics but also appreciate the importance of good sportsmanship. My goal is to play baseball at the college level while pursuing my higher education goals. In addition to my physical characteristics and a strong arm, one of my strengths is the ability to relate to teammates. I have always gravitated to leadership positions - quarterback in football, a point guard in basketball and a leader in the dugout .
I started competing in baseball at age 10. Initially, I wanted to be a catcher but I realized that my speed and arm strength would allow me to become an outstanding outfielder. During my freshman year, I earned the opportunity to be the left fielder for the Wichita Collegiate varsity baseball team. Coach Gehrer saw my potential as a pitcher in addition to playing the outfield and I soon became one of the top varsity pitchers. I was named 2nd team All-Conference for outfield as a freshman.
In the summer and fall, I play for the club team 316 Sluggers Elite as an outfielder and pitcher. I played for one of the 18 U teams this fall. Fall ball was a great experience since we had the opportunity to play at the various Community Colleges in Kansas and be evaluated by their staffs. I am really looking forward to my junior season.
I would like to attend a college with a competitive baseball program and strong academics. Geography is not a barrier and the preferred size of the school is also not a barrier. I have not decided on a major yet, but I am interested in business or the health science field.
