My name is Evan and I live in Ludlow Kentucky. I’ve been playing baseball since I was 4 years old and it is one of my main passions in life. It is a goal of mine to play college baseball and even pro baseball someday. Currently, I play shortstop and pitcher for my high school varsity team as well as my select travel team. I usually hit at the top of the batting order (1 or 2 spot), but I have been placed anywhere from lead-off to the 5 hole. This season, I've been batting lead-off for my varsity team. I was recently voted as a "Team Captain" by my high school teammates.
I am looking for a college baseball opportunity that will help me grow as a student in the classroom and an athlete on the field. I want a great education academically and I wish to develop my baseball skills to increase my chances of playing pro ball someday.
Most of my recent playing experience has been as a middle infielder and a pitcher. However, on my travel teams in the past, I have also played first base, third base, all three outfield positions and even catcher. So, I’m willing to play any position on the field if it will help me reach my goals at the next level… And if it will help my team win games.

Hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, line drive type hitter with good balance, uses all fields well, consistently found the barrel in BP, ran 4.53 down the line, went 0-for-5 in game play. Shows soft hands defensively, quick exchange with high-3/4 release, accurate arm, 78 mph velocity across the infield, good lateral movement.

- Evan Slone, SS, Ludlow HS, L/R, 2016 5-foot-9, 165-pounds, left-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, good balance, line drive type hitter with gap to gap approach, showed significantly better speed with a 4.40 home to first time. Soft hands with above average lateral movement, quick exchange and release with high-3/4 slot, increase in arm strength at 78 mph across the infield, accurate throws.

- 5-foot-9, 163 pound prospect has added 10+ pounds to his frame since last summer. Left-handed hitter has made some adjustments allowing for better balance and a more compact swing...balanced stance, short stride, good balanced line drive type hitter who shows great ability to use all fields. He ran a 7.5 sec 60-yd dash, personal best 81 mph exit velocity. Defensively, shows good hands and feet, gets rid of the ball quickly with a short arm action, high 3/4 release with accurate throws across the infield.

- Evan continues to show steady play in his baseball abilities. He takes a good first step and is fluid in his approach and displays range to both sides. He displays sure hands in making the plays. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup with balance. Hands work through a level line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard. HITTING: good balance, line drive hitter - uses the entire field, tracks the ball well. FIELDING: good pre-pitch movements, never missed the routine play, good body control

Defensively, he shows playable hands and gets rid of the baseball with short arm action. Slone went 1-for-4 in game action with a single to left-center.

- After the event, Evan was invited to participate in the Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City in Bradenton, Florida. "Evan is a 5'9/150 lbs SS that will graduate in 2016. Defensively, he made plays with an aggressive approach and got to his fielding position on-time. He has an idea for angles and worked his eyes behind the ball on backhand plays. Presenting his glove and following his throws will increase field ability. Offensively, he tracked the ball and sprayed it to all fields. He got to a launch position on-time and got some extension through contact. Driving with his lower half and staying direct with the barrel will increase pop. In all - Evan is a good athlete that has another two years to add speed and strength to his game for the next level."
