Personal Statement
My hobbies are baseball, basketball working out and hanging out with my friends. ( evaluations from coach Bill Daily) (showing what they are going to want to see with the bat, good swing, stay's up on back side through swing, makes good contact, sprayed ball). Defensively, good feet, good turns around bag.Coach's say that I play the game like a dirt bag player always in the right place at the right time making smart baseball decisions.( DeMarini top 96 ) 1-5 scoring, 4 in bat speed and a 4 in accuracy. 6.9 60yrd, arm speed 81 mph.( LSU Alexandria) arm speed 84 across the diamond. 4.8 40yrd.Last year as A JR I was awarded the 2012 golden glove. Things that I am working on to improve are arm strength and running to be a conssistent 6.7 60.(head coach's evaluation) I am writing on behalf of Tyler Randall, a senior infielder at Family Christian Academy in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. My name is Rick Smith, Tyler's high school coach. In assessing Tyler's abilities, I will begin with foot speed...a concern of many coaches at the next level. Tyler runs fairly well: 6.8 in the 60. Moreover, he possess tremendous awareness on base...great at reading pitchers and getting good jumps...good instincts. Getting on base is not a problem for Tyler. He possess good swing mechanics and has put up strong offensive numbers his entire career at FCA. Last season he hit .421 leading his team to a state title. He has shown that he can hit to all fields and has a some "pop". While he is capable of hitting the long ball, he will certainly produce plenty of extra base hits for us...last season he had 11 doubles and 2 triples. Having dedicated himself to a serious workout regimen this year, his power numbers are sure to go up. Defensively, Tyler is very capable...While he has played primarily in the middle infield for FCA, Tyler could play just about anywhere, including the outfield. He is very quick and reads the ball well off the bat. His arm strength is adequate...He was recently clocked at 83-84 throwing across the diamond. Tyler possesses a great deal of intangibles. While I was coaching at LSU in the '90s, we often looked for players who had HWA (how to win awareness). Tyler is blessed with this particular attribute. He also is a tireless worker and a good student. His parents are very supportive of his athletic pursuits and they have instilled in him the sort of character that will serve him well in this life. I strongly recommend you give Tyler consideration as a student-athlete.
