Personal Statement

For educational purposes, I transferred to a smaller private school in October 2021 & had to sit my junior year for eligibility. I am looking forward to playing for Coach Bolton at Family Christian Academy my upcoming Senior season. I am grateful for the opportunity to grow my faith and academics. At the end of my Junior year I had a 3.56 cumulative GPA and received a principals honor award.

I just finished up my showcase season after the first weekend of July 2022. I played for a first season team the Baton Rouge Patriots. It was a great opportunity to become a better teammate and get some experience again pitching in game situations and swinging the bat for live pitching. Coach Don Barrow provided a great opportunity for growth both in the field and as a teammate.

My early travel ball years I played SS and RHP. Then, I spent  many years gaining experience playing OF in travel ball throughout my childhood. When I entered HS ball, I played SS and RHP my Freshman season. During my Sophomore year, I worked on perfecting 1B, 3B and RHP positions. I am great at tracking balls, regardless of position. I have been told that my baseball IQ and knowing where plays need to be made is one of my greatest assets. I have worked on my pitching and gained a lot of Velocity since starting HS. I started out in early 80’s range. MY TFB is 90mph. I usually average between 86-88. I spent a lot of time in showcase and metro ball trying to perfect command In 2022. I spent time both at 1B, 3B, and OF throughout my showcase season this summer, depending what was needed in those games. With my baseball IQ, I am capable of playing any position.

I pack a lot of strength into a LHB swing. i enjoy working out and have spent a lot of time since my 8th grade year in the weight room.

I hope I will be able to continue playing baseball after highschool for a college that is a great fit academically and athletically. I want to be a part of a team that challenges me to continue to grow into an even better Christian young man.

8/17/22- I am grateful to have received my first D1 offer from Mississippi Valley State HC, Coach Milton Barney. I am grateful and feel honored to have received this athletic scholarship offer.

  • “Seth Terrell #505 2023 60 Time: 7.11 Top Exit Velo: 90 mph Hitting: Athletic swing type. Powerful load and hot barrel. Produces great rhythm that helps timing but loses it occasionally. Having a powerful load requires lots of body control on the unload; which isn’t easy to do. Big leaguers across the country have been reducing noise in their swing to get more on time and more consistent. You could try taking some back and forth movements out of the load and focus more on hip engagement that might help control the unload of your swing and improve results. His approach was always middle and is great for body direction through the ball. Keep having the mindset of cracking baseballs and never just swinging. Always look to improve! Defense: Has an arm that can make up for mistakes. Very mobile corner infielder but eeds to improve footwork after ball touches his glove so that he can be effective with his strong arm. Approaches ball well, keeps eyes down uses a good glove. Continue to get reps moving yourself left and right to help body understand the movement. Once you begin to work through target with solid footwork the position will get even easier. Pitching: RHP. Strong, power type delivery. Uses his solid base underneath him. Fun to watch. Needs to make delivery more consistent for repeatable results. FB was heavy and had a lot of spin. Makes it tougher on hitters to find solid contact. With his curveball he needs to stay on line with the target and keep balance along with direction headed straight down the mound. This gives us the chance to extend through the pitch and finish the delivery effectively. He does well throwing his change-up with the right intentions. He lets the grip work and lets the ball fall off his fingertips as he would a fastball. In order to keep developing our craft on the mound we have to take care of our body before and after throwing and working out during the week to keep body fresh. Bands, Weighted ball training, body blades, circuit training all help this cause. FB Velo: 83-86 T87 mph BB Velo: 70-71 mph CH Velo: 80-81 mph “
