Personal Statement
Over the past 2 years, my high school baseball team has turned our program in a different direction. During my freshman year, we finished 4-12 and didn't make playoffs. Last season, we posted a 9-7 record and finished fifth in our conference, making playoffs for the first time in several seasons. This came from the grit, dedication, and eagerness to win from my teammates and me. As a sophomore, I developed skills in leadership, organization, setting and accomplishing goals, and overcoming adversity, while also being recognized as second-team all-conference, first-team all-region, a Maine underclassman all-star, and also all-tournament for Maine's Legion tournament. While I'm proud of these accomplishments, I must add that I aim to stay humble and hold more emphasis on the skills I've developed playing at the varsity level, as well as my drive to win.
I am looking for a school that can challenge me both academically and athletically. At 5'9, 175 and a larger heart and work ethic than body, I am particularly interested in a D3 school with a good academic reputation, competitive baseball program, and an enjoyable on-campus atmosphere. I want to play for a team that will challenge me to stay at the top of my game day in and day out, because the people around me want to win just as badly. I am working towards figuring out what I want in a career and am therefore leaning towards liberal arts institutions, but nevertheless hope to find the right school here in the northeast, particularly New England. Above all, I would like to find a college that can make me set goals in the classroom and on the field, while also helping further develop me into a leader.
