Personal Statement

I’ve loved baseball since little league. It has brought me closer to my friends and a community of competitive baseball players. My dream for college is to thrive as a student while playing baseball at the collegiate level. I see myself balancing all my interests in college: working hard in the weight room and on the field, studying for courses in the library, making music, and hanging out with friends and teammates.

I recently completed a semester at Skidmore College with a 3.92 GPA. I was also actively playing for the Thoroughbreds baseball team in the fall as a walk-on. I had a great fall season playing effectively in all my positions.

Unfortunately, as a walk-on, I was not guaranteed a spot, and because of a roster cap, the coach was unable to give me a spot on the team. Coach Plourde (Skidmore) has offered to support me by acting as a reference to other coaches and schools to tell them about the student-athlete that I am.

As of January 2024, I have taken a leave from Skidmore to spend my spring semester in Minnesota, training and playing with the Minnesota Post-Grad team.  The program is 4 months of weight & speed training, positional, hitting, vision, and skills training, in addition to mental approach training, and playing a 60-game spring schedule.

I feel my academic and athletic success during my first semester at Skidmore has been a valuable experience in playing at the college level while balancing challenging coursework, and so I am looking to secure a rostered position at a high academic college where I can contribute to the team and community, and earn a BA in Business and Music.

I have always strived to be a leader for my team and teammates. I believe that my work ethic separates me from other players. I have a poster in my room quoting Babe Ruth, “Every strike brings me closer to the next home run.” This has always resonated with me; even if I’ve had a rough game—or recruiting challenge—I will still get up the next day and put in the work that is required for me to succeed next time.

  • http://members.baseballfactory.com/player/sage/beebe-jenny/f823f179740b40cfad784b46bd73f7fe Sage is a C/3B out of New Hampshire in the class of 2023. Behind the plate, he did a good job of presenting a target and tracking the ball to the mitt when receiving. He kept the ball in front while blocking and his throws were on target while getting it out quickly with a short clean arm action. At 3B, he displayed the ability to move laterally well to cover ground and work through the baseball. He knew positioning and showed arm strength across the diamond. At the plate, he used a closed set up with smooth timing to stay short to the baseball with good intent to do damage. He made consistent contact with power to the pull side of the field. Sage is a promising prospect who will continue to improve his game and work towards the next level. CAMP COACH NOTES: Hitting: good base and set up, swings with intent and aggression, short path, loads hands, some lower, direct stride, WORK ON: more lower, better finish/extension Defense (catcher): gets rid of ball quickly, good receiver, good arm slot on throws, soft hands, WORK ON: wider base in set up, smother ball more when blocking (not down to one knee) Defense (infield): nice tempo and feel at 3B, positions well, athletic actions and approach, accurate throws, WORK ON: more momentum on throws (play through), raise arms lot for more carry

  • Sage Beebe-Jenny: C/3B, (15 yr old/2023) out of New Hampton, NH. is a 5-foot-9, 145-pound catching prospect. At the plate, Beebe-Jenny recorded an exit velocity of 81 MPH. He hits out of a wide, open stance with the hands set just off the back shoulder. A controlled load starts the hands into a simple, direct swing path that leads to a lot of line drives during his batting practice. Behind the plate, Beebe-Jenny was 67 MPH with a pop time range of 2.1-2.3 during throw downs. His stance is clean, leading to consistent footwork and a clean exchange. He also showed soft hands as he received to go along with a short ¾ arm slot. He finishes in line and over his front leg. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.9.
