Personal Statement

My name is Ethan Sands and I am a senior at Mount Hebron High School. I will graduate with the Class of 2017.  I have set many goals for myself as I head into college: getting a scholarship to a good academic institution; playing baseball at the collegiate level in a competitive program;  and most importantly, receiving my degree in Psychology and/or Journalism.  Ultimately, it would be an honor to be recognized as an All-Conference or All-American player for my accomplishments in the classroom and on the field.  I consider myself a team player and that, in part, is what makes me a good candidate for any college team. I not only work hard to improve my skills everyday, but I will help motivate those around me to excel and reach their highest potential as well.  My goal is to do whatever it takes to help the team be successful. I will play any position or serve in any role to help the team.  But I hope that I can also make the college experience fun for the entire team while staying focused and committed to our goal of becoming champions. I really love the game of baseball and I hope to never lose my child-like enthusiasm for the game, even as I strive to reach new heights. I also believe that I am different from most recruits because I am not a physical standout, so I know the hard work and effort needed to get to this point and beyond, and still be able to succeed at a very high level.  People have questioned me for my size, but never for my heart or ability. I will bring that drive to succeed to campus and I will earn a spot in the lineup. But I am not choosing a school just for baseball. I am a very well rounded, dedicated student. I have tried to challenge myself in the classroom throughout my academic career by taking AP, GT (Gifted & Talented), and honors courses; and I am currently maintaining a 3.5 GPA. I hope to find a place where I can be a true student athlete and help a team to a championship.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
