Baseball is not just a sport for me. Baseball has provided me with invaluable experiences and its lessons have molded me to become who I am today. It has helped me through some of the most difficult times in my life. I was personally struggling with the daily challenge of intense bullying in middle school. Baseball is what motivated me to get out of bed every day. I needed a sense of belonging and a break from the stress. I participated in town sports for years but still couldn't find my place. Joining a club baseball team outside of the local community programs was my saving grace. It allowed me the opportunity to submerse myself in the sport that I loved, connect with peers that shared the same interests and gave me a sense of belonging. The field was a place where I could actually be myself. It built up my self confidence and helped me see my self worth. I was also able to see the results of my hard work and commitment on the field. It still makes me feel energized every single time I step on the field.
Baseball continues to be a positive place where I can follow my passions, foster life long friendships and grow on and off the field. Baseball really brings out the best in me. Attending a private Catholic High School has been a place of comfort as well as academic, personal and spiritual growth. Currently, I am a two sport athlete in Varsity baseball and Varsity football. I am flexible and adaptable; allowing me to play multiple positions in each sport. I perform well under pressure and I am able to effectively communicate with coaches and peers. I am actively involved in my schools S.A.I.L program (Student Ambassador Internship League), a member of my football teams Leadership Council, and participate in community service regularly. I am well respected by my coaches and peers for my passion, leadership, persistence and perserveance.
I am looking forward to my future in college and in baseball. My academic interests are Forensic Science, Sports Broadcasting and Sports Management. I am working hard towards reaching my goals and I hope you consider me to play for your college.
Sincerely,
Kyle Almeida
