My name is Brian Doherty Jr. and I am from North Billerica, Massachusetts. I am a student going into my junior year and also a 2 sport varsity athlete at Billerica Memorial High School. I train 3-4 days a week with Cressey Sports Performance in Hudson, Ma to maintain my overall athleticism and core strength right up until my winter track season starts. I work on my fielding every week with Ryan Lahey who is the Northeast Regional Scout for the LA Angels. Midway through my winter track season in December I begin working in my winter workouts for baseball mostly hitting mechanics with Scott Patterson from Northeast Baseball out of Littleton, Ma and I continue right up until our high school tryouts start. It is this type of preparation and hard work that separates me from others and is easily noticed by teammates and coaches alike and I feel like it’s translated into an important leader ship trait of mine. I am certain that my work ethic and dedication to everything that I do is the reason why I not only do well in school but have made every Little League All Star Baseball Team since age 10, it’s the reason why I won the Hall of Fame Award for my AAU Legends Baseball Club, it’s the reason I was elected Co-Captain of the freshman team, and the reason that I made the Varsity Baseball and Indoor track teams as a sophomore last year.
I am mainly a middle infielder but I have also played some outfield and I am pretty comfortable behind the plate as a catcher if needed. I am a patient hitter with some good pop in my bat and always have a plan when I am at the plate. I am currently 5’ 6” and 165 pounds with a very athletic frame and strong legs. I am also fortunate to have the one important tool for baseball that can’t be coached and that’s speed. Right now I am running a 6.80 second 60 yard dash and my goal to start this coming track season is to get that down into the 6.5 range.
Since I was born and raised here in the New England area I am a little partial towards colleges here in the Northeast but it’s more important to me that I find the right academic fit and opportunity to play at the most competitive level that I can whether it’s in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, or Southern States. I am interested in pursuing one of the following majors: business management, sales and marketing, or possibly criminal justice.
