Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Alex Sorenti-Burns. I am a senior at Bourne High School, in Bourne, MA. I have been a member of the varsity baseball team since my sophomore year as the team's starting catcher. I am looking to play competitive baseball in college and pursue a degree in business. I am a hard worker and a diligent student who has spent the past three years not only developing my baseball abilities but also developing my work ethic and character through community services in the town of Bourne. I have consistently made the honor roll and have earned my Eagle Scout (with a Silver Palm) during my three years of high school. I have also worked hard to give back to my community through my many hours helping out at The Bourne Food Pantry.
In pursuing my degree in business I hope to take what I have learned and apply it to the real world, whether it's creating my own business or working for organizations that sell products or services that provide meaningful value to the world.
After transferring to Bourne High School, I was named the starting catcher, helping to lead the team to the Massachusetts South Coast semifinals. I also helped our team establish a league low ERA of 1.82 while quickly adapting to a new high school coaching system, teammates and pitching style. Prior to transferring to Bourne High School, I was named the starting third basemen at Cape Cod Academy as an eighth grader, affording me the opportunity to have high school baseball experience at a very young age. Most recently, in my 2017 summer ball season, as starting catcher I hit .347 and continued my success as a three hitter and a leadoff hitter.
My intention is to take my work ethic, drive and prior experience of adaptability and coachability to the college level to help a college baseball program win a NCAA championship.
