Personal Statement
“There may be people who have more talent than you, but there's no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do” - Derek Jeter
Baseball is very important to me and it is has been my goal since I can remember to play at the collegiate level. My focus is to play college baseball at the highest level possible for a school with strong academics and I plan to do everything possible to make that happen. I also hope to play as a college freshman and make an impact on my team.
I have played baseball my whole life and have always loved everything about the game. I have put a lot of effort into maximizing any talent that I may possess through playing for travel/town/school teams, practicing with my dad and a hitting coach, and doing strength training 3-4 days a week since I was 11 years old.
I was the starting second baseman as a freshman on the Ipswich High School varsity baseball team. I am currently a junior and the team captain as the starting third baseman and pitcher and was chosen All-Conference and All Area First Team All-Star. I also was chosen as a 16 year old to play Senior Legion baseball for Newburyport Post 150 and will continue to play for that team and Vikings 17U Collegiate Exposure team this upcoming summer. I have a cumulative 3.83 GPA at Ipswich High School. As a baseball player and a student, I am hardworking, focused, a good listener, and have a good attitude. These characteristics allow me to get good grades and perform well in sports. Right now, in my junior year, I am 5’11” and weigh 185 pounds. As an athlete, I am decently fast, have good quickness and strength, which also allows me to start for the varsity basketball team. I plan to continue to do strength/fitness training to get quicker, faster, and stronger. I also will work to continue to increase my leadership skills as the varsity baseball team captain and give back to my teammates.
I will continue to work hard during high school to improve my skills as a baseball player while achieving good grades with the ultimate goal of one day having the opportunity to play college baseball.
