Personal Statement

Hi Coach.  My name is Zach and I eat, sleep and live baseball.   I am a hardworking baseball player that is a leader on and off the field and I love to compete.  I may not be a vocal leader but I sure do lead by example.   First on the field and last one off the field.

Playing baseball at the collegiate level has been my dream since I was 8 years old watching the College World Series.

I am committed to making myself  better everyday.  I quit all other sports sophomore year just to play baseball year round.   Not only do I play baseball year round, I also work at a baseball facility teaching younger kids the fundamentals.

  • The event allowed us to see Zach for the second time since June, and boy has he really progressed. Swung the bat very well and played a very good shortstop in the game. At the plate, the stays in his skill set and spreads the ball around the field. Needs some strength in the frame, tee exit velocity of 81 mph. The set up even with his feet and his hands. The barrel is a tick long but he stays in his legs and moves the ball around the field. Defensively, above average glove at shortstop, handles the pivot with ease and has plenty of arm, threw 81 mph across the diamond. Ran a 4.40 down the line on his dig. Very good follow in my opinion as he can really play. (Named best INF Glove)

  • Pro Scouts Consensus: Best SS at event. Good plus actions, arm works well - good plus arm, fast 7.0 60, D1 or D2 candidate. Coaches consensus: 2017 will be a big year for Zach. Solid athlete. I would focus on building strength. The work you put in over the next 12 months will really help determine your path to college baseball. We all see you projecting to having the ability to compete and contribute at all levels.

  • Zach Landry is a 2018 MIF/RHP with a 5-7 150 lb. frame from Mashpee, MA who attends Mashpee High School. Younger player with a lean, slender frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out and develop physically. Posted an impressive 6.87 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary middle infielder, showed clean actions, fielded the ball clean, good accuracy and arm strength up to 80 mph. At the plate, started with a slightly open stance, high hand set, and a leg lift timing mechanism. Showed intent to drive the ball, fired hips well with torque through lower half, linear swing path, and raw bat speed. Worked all fields with quick hands through the zone. Also pitched, leg raise to waist, lands on stiff front leg, compact windup, short arm action, and threw from a three quarter arm slot. Clean mechanics through delivery with ability to repeat. Fastball worked 77-81 mph with arm side life. Showed a curveball as well with big depth and flashed sharpness, while replicating his arm speed well at 72 mph. Very good student. Named to Top Prospect Team (PG Grade 8) (Hit 7.5) (Fielding 7.5) (Power 7.5) (Pitchin 7.5)
  • Camp/Event
  • The Best of New England Invitational
  • 8/08/16 to 8/09/16
  • Good contact hitter with a solid base. Defensively had a a good transfer and quick release. (INF Velo-81)(60 YD Dash-7.03) (FB-78) (CH&CB-69)
  • Camp/Event
  • PBR MA/NH Underclass Games
  • 6/29/16 to 6/29/16
  • First time we have seen Zach and he showed a tremendous skill set on the day. Ran a 4.38 down the line to first. Threw 79 mph across the diamond with carry and accuracy. Showed some flash to the glove and certainly can handle the pivot. Solid skill set to stay in the middle of the field. At the plate, tee exit velocity of 83 mph. Hits out of an even stance with even hands, glides to the ball a bit as it approaches. The hands work and the path is slightly uphill. On the mound, he is a grinder. Standard leg lift and ¾ arm slot delivery, which he repeats. Showed a fastball at 77 mph, and the makings of two very good secondary pitches. Coming off short rest, so seeing him pitch fresh would help. The breaking ball was 66 with good shape and showed an above average feel for a changeup at 69 mph. Good looking prospect.

  • Zach Landry is a 2018 MIF/RHP with a 5-6 145 lb. frame from Mashpee, MA who attends Mashpee. Medium athletic frame with good physical projection remaining on frame. Posted a 7.26 seconds 60 yard dash time. Hits from balanced, relaxed stance, coils front hip into load back, shows fluidity in swing mechanics, good hands with quickness to and through the hitting zone, could stand to better utilize lower half in swing, made consistent contact with line drive swing plane, used whole field. Showed good first step defensively, has range to both sides, fields cleanly for the most part, quick and clean exchanges with quick release, made accurate throws across the diamond topping at 75 MPH. Pitched as well, quick and compact delivery, drop and drive mechanics, 3/4 slot with shorter arm action, FB worked 72-77 with slight life to arm side at times, did good job working down in zone with FB, showed CB with 12/6 shape and good spin, some depth on the pitch. Worked quickly. Very good student. (PG Grade 7)
