Dear Coach,
My name is Orion Daily. I am a right hand pitcher in the class of 2021. Living on an island I have worked very hard to find opportunities to play baseball year round. Throughout my entire life I have been playing competition 1 to 5 years older than me. I have been held to a high standard by my coaches, parents, and myself.
Being in a small school on a remote island means through my high school career I have had to deal with loosing. My two years on the varsity high school team have included small teams with very young players. I know that this is a blessing in disguise for me because baseball is a sport of failure. It is through this failure that I have learned how to overcome obstacles and stay positive for my teammates. My club team is a nice counter balance. It draws players from a much larger area attracting a higher caliber player and on a larger team. I have been able to play with great competitors and win on my club team. My last two years playing fall ball have even brought us to the championship. Over the summer, we have had very successful seasons going far into the playoffs and most recently loosing by only one run.
I work hard and love playing baseball but have been taught to equally focus on my academics. Through my high school career I have worked hard and done well while taking honors and AP classes. I am looking for a collegiate program that will be a fit for me academically and athletically. I believe that I have the skills to play on a collegiate level team, but also the leadership and character that will help the players around me strive to improve their game as well.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and what I am looking for in a college team.
