Personal Statement
Hello coaches,
My name is Sam Salvi and I will be a senior this upcoming year at Algonquin High School in Massachusetts. I'm not overly vocal but I'm extremely intense and don't know how to do anything less than 100%. I'm an All Star defenseman in hockey and I think that toughness and competitive spirit needed there carries over well to the baseball field. Having a chance to make a great diving catch in centerfield is something that makes my day.
I love baseball and have been looking forward to the day where I could play baseball every day. I can't think of a place I'd rather be spending free time than in a batting cage. Working on my swing is something I take seriously, but it's also so much fun for me. I believe that with great coaching and opportunity to play a lot more than I currently do in New England that I can become a great all around player - at the plate, in the outfield and on the bases. I love being on the field and hanging out with teammates. I've made many great friends over the years on my hockey and baseball teams.
Academics doesn't come naturally to me so I've had to work hard to maintain almost all As at a very good high school. I'm self motivated to do the best I can, and am proud that I've made meaningful improvements each time I've taken the SAT exam. I also find time to help others in the community, volunteering for my church's local youth ministry as well as working with the Southboro Town Clerk to assist in elections and other special projects.
To sum it up, what you'd get from me is a player who works as hard as anyone and who loves baseball as much as anyone, a great teammate, a person who is highly respectful to all (including coaches, umpires, teammates), and a self motivated student.
I am very much looking forward to my college years,
Sam
