My name is David Jurewicz, Jr. I am currently a Senior (Class 2022) at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in Sudbury, Massachusetts. I am 6’2” and 155lbs, I throw left and bat left. I play three positions, outfield, pitch, and first base. My primary position is Centerfield, however, I will play anywhere I am needed. One of my strengths is my speed, I am able to beat out a ground ball, avoid a double play, and steel home. I am a contact hitter with power. I step up to the plate expecting to hit the ball hard and I work the count to get my pitch. I am confident and I am not afraid to fail. I own and learn from my mistakes and lead by consistently working hard and supporting my teammates. I am very competitive and hate to lose. I know the game of baseball, I love playing, and it is fun. I set goals every season, offseason, and every game. I have worked hard to develop my game and perform at a high level. I want to play baseball in college and play pro baseball after college. Right now that is my dream and goal and I will work diligently to achieve it.
In the 2021 season, I played and started for the LS Varsity team and during the summer I played for the Nokona Chiefs U17 team. I played Junior Varsity for my high school team as a freshman. I played 17u for the Roving Scout Stars when I was a freshman. If our season wasn't canceled because of COVID-19 I believe I would have made Varsity and worked my way into the starting line-up.
From the end of 2020 until the summer of 2021, I had to take time off from baseball to spend time with my cousin, who was battling brain cancer. He was diagnosed in 2017 and began to lose his fight in October of 2020. It was a very difficult time for my family and all of our time from October to January 2021 was devoted to my cousin Chris. COVID-19 made things even more difficult and added to the trauma of the situation. I feel it is important for coaches to know this chapter of my story because it has been a significant part of my life and I want them to understand the reason why I fell from the recruiting ranks. This past summer (2021) I began to play and workout for baseball again. I am working on gaining size, strengthening my hips, and will be running indoor track to work on getting faster and bringing my time down to my previous performances. I know when spring comes I will be ready physically and mentally to help my team win. I am also excited to resume the recruiting process and pursue playing baseball at the college level.
