Personal Statement
Hi coaches, my name is Andrew (AJ) Ryan. I am a 6’4”, 185 lb Junior RHP/1B/Hitter. I'm incredibly excited to start my college recruitment process this year. Some things that make me stand out is my coach-ability and attitude. Many of my coaches have complimented my ability to pick up new skills and put them into practice quickly. I believe this is due to my attitude toward work. People who know me well would consider me a perfectionist because once I start a project, I make sure that it is done to my best ability. This helps me especially in sports because once I learn a new technique I practice until I can't get it wrong. With my brother playing 4 years of DII football and my sister attending Texas State University for her masters in Athletic training, it's easy to understand that college athletics has had a major impact on my life. This is partially what drives me to become a college athlete but I also strive to be the best in everything that I do. I am also part of the local Boy Scout troop and have been taught how to lead a group and have learned to deal with situations in ways that others may not think of making me a useful member of any team. Outside of baseball I also play football as an outside linebacker and starting long snapper which earned me my varsity letter as a sophomore. I am very comfortable on stage, as an avid musician and also a member of a band. I am also a member of my schools most prestigious co-ed acapella group, Algoncapella. I believe all these things make me a better student athlete and better person as a whole. At a recent Baseball Factory event, the scouting report said: "... loved his positive attitude, he is very coachable and a great ‘clubhouse guy’, great with his teammates." I am looking forward to speaking with you and meeting you soon!
