Dylan Yancey '11 Recruiting Profile

I am starting my Senior yr in high school. I am 5'8 and weigh 140 lbs. My time from home to 1st is on average 3.85 sec, 60 yard is 6.9-7.0 sec; I have not been officially timed in the 40 yard. I started at shortstop as a freshman on the varsity team and was the lead off hitter. I played every inning of every game and played well. On the mound I had 2 wins and no losses both were complete games, one a shut-out. My batting ave. didn't show how well I really swang the bat my freshman year. I hit a lot of hard shots right at somebody. My Sophomore year I made All League and All District both were unanimous choices voted by baseball coach's in our district. I was 1 of only three players who received that honor; the other two were seniors and one of them went to Western Michigan U. Also, 2nd team All Region. I was in the top ten in batting ave with .444 in the Downriver area papers for most of the season and ended the season flirting with .400. On the mound I struck out 30 batters in aprox. 30 innings of pitching. My defence was outstanding at shortstop. I have been selected to play with the United States Baseball Stars. The USBS holds try outs all over the United States. One of my strongest assets is my hard work and dedication. I have been working on my skills since I was 9 years old. I have been told by several coach's that I have all the intangables needed to play at the next level. I do not show any emotion good or bad on the field. I have a natural leadership ability on and off the field. I lead by example and all of my team mates on all the teams I've played for respect me. When the game is on the line, I want the ball. I feel that my team is only as strong as our weakest link. Even though I accomplished more by the age of 16 than most people do, I never brag about myself and I am always the first one to help a struggling team mate with their hitting or fielding. I have a very strong work habits. I practice and focus on all the mechanics of the game all year round, every day. I'm looking foward to utilizing my Senior year building my skills to an even higher level. I'm hoping to pursue a baseball career in College immediately following graduation as well as getting a degree in Engineering.
