Personal Statement
My collegiate goals and aspirations are to further my knowledge in the health related fields preferably for becoming a radiologist and to hopefully play baseball at the collegiate level and enhance my skills in the sport . What makes me a good candidate for your team is that i'm a leader, I always have been a leader in just about every sport if played in. When i'm catching i'm always taking the lead by calling for cuts and relays when the ball is in play, i'm also really good at shutting down the opponents running game by keeping the ball in-front of me by blocking and also by throwing out stealing runners. What makes me different from other recruits is my work ethic, if I ever wanted anything I knew id have to work for it, so I keep that mentality through everything I do including work, school and athletics.
My Journey playing baseball started back in T-Ball where I immediately fell in love with the sport. I played a lot of baseball, going through the entire Big Rapids Little League system and having opportunities to play in our districts all-star tournaments through the Little League. When I was about 9 years old I took pitching lessons from a Grand Valley State University Pitcher named Aaron Jensen. About 3 years later is when I decided I wanted to start catching, I began taking lessons from a former professional named Dan Killian for about 2 years. When I was a Freshman in high school I was invited by Baseball Factory to go to the Pittsburgh Pirates training facility in Florida for a 3 day training camp. Shortly after doing that I tried out for Grand Rapids Elite Baseball program and have been playing with their club going on now for 3 years. I'm currently playing in a fall wooden bat league.
When I was younger I played 4 sports Baseball, Soccer, Basketball, and Football up until the end of my 8th grade year. As a freshman I decided to quit playing the other sports to focus and train for one sport in High School, which has also allowed me to have more time to keep up with my school work, also important to me. During the past 2 years I have been playing and practicing baseball almost non-stop (about 7-8 months of organized baseball with conditioning, weight lifting throughout my off-season along with one practice a week all winter at the indoor Elite Baseball facility ).
