I have loved baseball for as long as I can remember. It all started by watching my Dad play fast-pitch softball all summer long. While my Dad played, the other kids and I played our own games. Around the age of four, I started playing tee-ball. After just 2 years of tee-ball, I moved up an age group. Although I was the youngest on the team, I held my own, continuing to get better from there. I have had my sights set on one day playing for a living, but right now, with a few more years under my belt, my eyes are set on playing in college.
As an upperclassman, on a team full of Freshman and Sophomores, they look to me to lead. I have taken the big brother role for the team, answering questions and helping with school work if they need it. Having this role on the team has helped me to grow as a player and as a person.
I know that academics are a major deciding factor for many college coaches. I have been an Honor Student throughout my high school career and that won't change as I start my senior year in the fall, and furthermore when I attend college. I'm also a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council. I plan to continue to be a recognized academic student in college.
With hopes of playing college baseball, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make the team that I play for successful. Baseball isn't just a game to me. It is something I would love to play for the rest of my life and I'm willing to work as hard as I can to achieve this goal.
