At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he takes good first steps in attacking the baseball. Glove action is soft / clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate he shows as a switch hitter but projects best from the right side. Hands are quick and work through a compact swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he uses his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-74 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Andrew has potential with time and room to progress his game. The most they scored was two in the fourth. Kent was credited with the victory for South Oakland Athletics 14U. He went six innings, allowing zero runs on two hits and striking out three. Medium build, young frame with room to fill and plenty of time to do so. Ran a 7.51 second 60 yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, short side step to a belt high leg lift, full arm action up to a high 3/4 slot, clean delivery with good tempo and balance throughout, lands closed, extremely advanced pitchability, quick innings with lots of strikes and feel for the corners. Four pitch mix, fastball shows some angle especially when located down in zone, curveball is still developing at this time, mixed in a straight changeup to go along with knuckleball that showed lots of dancing movements, interesting follow on the mound. Also took reps in the infield, works down to the ground, would like to see get glove down earlier and work up, deep funnel with really quick transfer and release, could utilize lower half more for add arm strength and balance in actions, average arm strength topping out at 77 across the diamond. Switch hitter, spread stance, long hand path and swing from right side. Similar spread stance from left side, load tends to be late, should get swing started earlier, flat bat path, better bat speed bat speed and barrel control from left side, needs to add strength for greater pop off of the barrel.
