Luke Gunsell '17 Recruiting Profile

    My name is Luke Gunsell and I am a senior at H.H. Dow High School located in Midland, Michigan.   I have played baseball most of my life.  Over the years, I have played every single position during games, including a short stint as catcher when our catcher was injured.  Currently, I am slated to be a starting pitcher, first basemen or the closer.  The day after my high school baseball season ends, I will begin another season of baseball playing with my American Legion travel team.   I am typically a .300 hitter and have a very decent win to loss ratio   I enjoy being a leader and have worked hard to be a positive role model for my team.  As a senior, I know it is my job to be positive and to encourage not only the other players on my varsity team but for the players on the J.V. team. as well.   Personally, I have worked hard to build my stamina and techniques.  During the off season I have been working out and taking lessons to improve my pitching and hitting.  I am constantly watching baseball games and videos so that I can learn as much about baseball as I can.  Coaches, parents and even some strangers at baseball games have commented on my knowledge about the game of baseball.  I believe it is this knowledge that has helped me to always know what is going on in the game and what we need to do next.

    If I am fortunate enough to join your program, I will do exactly what I have been doing this baseball season.  I will be a leader and a positive role model.  Most importantly, I want to be a learner.  I want to come and learn as much as I can so that I can be a positive force on your team.  I promise to work hard at baseball and in the classroom so that I can continue to play the game that I love.  I have maintained a healthy lifestyle and have never been influenced by others to try risky things that are not only illegal but unhealthy life choices.  I promise you that if you select me to be on your team, I will continue to stay away from these things.  I will also surround myself with friends who make the same choices.  I can't wait to see what my college years have to bring.  If you decide that I am the right person for your team, I promise to give you all I have to give.
