Personal Statement
My name is Kory Young and I live in Rockford, Michigan. I’m a 6 foot, 175 pound middle infielder in my sophomore year at Rockford High School. I have been playing baseball for 11 years. Last season I was the only freshman to make my school’s Varsity baseball team and this year I was voted in as one of our Team Captains by my team mates. As a freshman, I was able to contribute and help my team win a State Championship for the first time in our schools history. GBED is a term instilled in me by my high school coach. It means to Get Better Every Day and I try to live by this motto not only on the baseball field but also in life.
Distance is not a factor for me when deciding in a school so I am open to schools across the country. Ideally, I would like to go to a school that has a “college town” atmosphere and a good campus environment. I have high academic standards, maintaining a 4.0, and would like to attend a school that has just as high of an academic reputation as do the athletic programs.
Baseball is my passion and it is my dream to play the game at the highest level possible. I want to play in a college baseball program that believes every year they have a chance of making it to Omaha. In that situation I would do everything I could to impact the team in a positive way and to help the team win.
