Rex Dopp '16 Recruiting Profile

       I have played baseball for over 13 years now, and I've loved every second. I knew at an early age that I would want to play at the collegiate level. At that time I didn't know what level I would be able to play at, only that I would need to work harder than anyone else in my field to realize my dreams. And, I believe I am on my way to accomplishing my goals. During my freshman year I began to catch bullpens, lift weights, and get into a batting cage at least twice a week from Thanksgiving to football season. These offseason and in season workouts have allowed me to catch two double headers a week with little difficulty in high school, and three to five games in a tournament during my summer season. Hard work has been a constant in my life for as long as I can remember and I can't imagine living without it. I believe I can bring my work ethic to any team in the country, and give 110% of myself to any program, on and off the field, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

     Over my first two and a half years of high school, I have been able to sustain a 3.96 GPA while being enrolled in honors English, chemistry, and math classes. Also, I started on South Haven High School's Varsity baseball team as a freshman and sophomore under coach Dave McWhinnie as a catcher and third baseman. As a sophomore, I earned All-Conference and All-District awards as a catcher. This past year, I also played Varsity football, and earned honorable mention All-conference at linebacker and second Team Dream Team Kalamazoo Area. I am a member of the national honor society, and the South Haven student council.

I'm looking forward to my collegiate life both in athletics and academics. I think I can be an asset to any team on and off the field.
