My name is Charles (Tony) Lyons (c/o 2018) and I have been playing baseball since I was 3 years old. I have been playing travel baseball since I was 8 (Detroit Bees). I attend University High School Academy in Southfield MI (no athletics). My high school (UHSA) has a very rigorous academic program that's very challenging. I currently have a 3.2 GPA. I am taking honors English and AP Calculus. I plan to retake the SAT in August. I played my first 2 years of high school baseball with Southfield Lathrup High School and this year I play for Southfield A&T (2 local schools combined). I desire to play baseball at the next level but more importantly I have a desire to obtain an engineer, computer science, computer information, or some other technical degree from a college or university with a well-established program. My annual goal on the field and off the field is to get better each year and that means getting smarter, stronger, and faster.
My high school team won the OAA Gold league championship two years in a row (2016 & 2017). Last season as a sophomore (batting 2nd) I drove in the go ahead run and eventually scored the winning run that lead to Southfield Lathrup winning the 2016 OAA championship. This season (2017) as a junior I am batting third in the line up with a batting average over 0.400 (~0.430). My on base percentage is 0.540. On my high school team, I play multiple positions (3B, 2B, SS, OF, and pitch). I am leading my team and I am one of the top leaders in the OAA conference in multiple offensive categories like BA, OBP, and Slug%.
Last season, on my summer team (A. Green) we won a past time World Series in Chicago (Windy City Thunderbolt 15U WS). I am a very versatile player for I generally play 50% of my time in the outfield (CF) and the other 50% in the infield (2B and SS). I am looking to get on more coaches radar this season for I truly desire to play this game that I love at the next level. On my summer team I bat lead off and I lead my summer the team in multiple offensive categories.
I have posted my summer schedule on my NCSA profile. The highlight of this year schedule the Perfect Game tournament scheduled for 7/26-7/30.
