Personal Statement

After attending Mercer University for 3 years and participating on the baseball team including two SoCon conference championships, I find that I will be graduating with an approximate 3.8 GPA in December 2019.  I would prefer to use my last two years of baseball eligibility to obtain a masters degree before going on to medical school post-baseball. June, 2019.  At my request, the Mercer Coaching staff has added my name to the grad transfer portal.

Coming across student athletes who excel in the classroom as well as on the baseball field doesn't happen too often.  I pride myself on my academic excellence and have always believed that school is the most important focus in my life at this point.  I have never needed other people's help in staying motivated to succeed.  I am extremely self-driven and am willing to put in the necessary work to achieve my goals in the short term and in the years to come.  I am always looking to improve my skills as a player as well as a leader.  I believe strongly in leading by example and expect the best effort from my teammates as well as myself.  As a baseball player, a goal of mine is to make a college roster and help put my team in the best possible position to be successful.  I believe that my wide range of abilities will enable me to contribute on the field immediately after joining a team.  Playing college baseball is merely a dream for millions of kids nationwide and I am willing and eager to

Scouting Report By: Shawn Wooten- Former MLB Player, World Series Champ and Los Angeles Dodger Minor League Coach

HITTING

Strong, athletic frame with a lot of room to fill out. Still growing into his frame. Potential to be a Middle Infielder with premium power. Stays on top and behind the ball well. Stays to the big part of the field. He is a cage rat!! Good enough hitter to eventually learn to pull and elevate the inside pitch for HRs. The sky is the limit as a D-1 hitter.

FIELDING

Athletic enough to play D-1 SS. His frame gives him the option to play several other position at a D-1 level. Jordan has soft hands, angles are getting better.

Evaluation from PBR

"6-foot-4, 200-pound shortstop. 7.00 60 time. Projectable long body with room to add weight. Present wiry strength in frame. Right-handed hitter with tall athletic stance. Creates great leverage down and through baseball. Hand-eye coordination is excellent. Consistently squares baseball creating back-spin with gap to gap approach. Linear lower half with good direction and transfers weight well through contact with long finish. 81 mph exit velocity. Above average actions in field. Covers ground well laterally. Feet are light for bigger player and hands are soft. Exchanges are crisp and clean. Moves with fluidity. Shows plus actions on body control plays. Has ability to slow game down in middle infield. One of the top prospects in Minnesota for 2016 class."
