Chandler Kovar '14 Recruiting Profile

It has always been a dream of mine to play baseball at the highest level possible. I enjoy competing under pressure and finding ways to win. I take pride in the little things whether it's properly getting around a ball on the infield or executing on a sac bunt play. My love for the game is what keeps me going. I am drawn to the challenge of the game because of the tremendous potential for failure that takes place in each and every game. I love spending countless hours in the cage and the weight room. I am one of the few guys who can honestly say I love "The Grind". I give off a positive vibe in the dugout day in and day out. I might not be the loudest most vocal guy in the dugout but my presence and encouragement will be felt. After playing a fall season at Ohlone Junior College in Fremont, California, I can truly say that I know what it will take to be successful at the collegiate level. I am confident that this year the time I spend training and focusing on both studies and baseball at IMG Academy, will transfer into an easy transition into any university across the country. The knowledge and experience I have gained have helped me make tremendous forward strides in my game, and I am very confident that I am ready to perform at the college level. That being said, I will be a better fit at a college that likes to swing the bats early and often. I can and will execute on bunt plays, hit and runs, ETC. However, I am a strong, aggressive hitter who loves hunting fastball's early in the count. I am not an easy out and love to compete at the plate finding any way to get on base. Stats aren't everything to me as long as I am finding ways to contribute to my team and finding ways to get a WIN. If you are a college coach looking for someone who respects and understands this beautiful game, possesses a tremendous work ethic, and has hours of collegiate game experience, then I am your guy! I am flexible and versatile when it comes to where I will play in the field and I have demonstrated through my performance that I can contribute whether playing infield or outfield.  I will work relentlessly to be the best player I can be in your program. I am physically and mentally strong and I continue to learn something about the game every time I step on the field!  In addition, I have goals off the field as well, and I take my classroom performance as seriously as my game. I commit to you that grades will not be a distraction. Lastly, I would like for you to know my mindset when it comes to to this game. I treat the team i belong to like a family. Of course i want to succeed as an individual, but when it comes time to do the little things, I do whatever I can to get a win for the logo on my jersey. I respect the program and realize that its going to be a process to get better both mentally and physically everyday.
