Personal Statement
My name is Connor Hartmann, and I've been very fortunate for having a couple of extremely successful 1st two years of high school baseball, being voted both "Team MVP", and "Pitcher-of-the-Year" for 2 years in a row for the St. Louis Area Baseball Association League. I'm currently a multi-sport student athlete, also playing on the Varsity Basketball Team since my Freshman year. I attribute my success and passion for sports to the quality professional instruction from my Father, who played for the Mets Minor-League Organization. I’ve enjoyed growing up in a family with a lengthy sports history. My Grandfather played baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals Minor League organization in the 50’s, and in the US Army. He then Coached Varsity Baseball, taught my Father, and coached him in baseball, basketball and football from little-league all the way up to his Senior Year in High School. After playing with the Mets, my Father played at the collegiate/semi-pro level, and has recently been elected to the National Baseball Semi-Pro Hall-of-Fame.
In addition to professional instruction, I've been able to receive a lot of constructive criticism from my Family and Coaches, realize my areas of needed improvement, set goals for myself and successfully improve from season to season in that area. Professional athletes are constantly working to improve, even at the highest levels, and I intend to do the same. My size, strength, and already good velocity have a lot of upside as I continue to grow. I'm a fierce competitor at game time, and have high expectations of my fellow teammates. It’s key to keep them focused and motivated in the dugout. I will bring that intensity, leadership and dominance to my college program as well.
