I am a Team Player that always wants to win.  My ultimate goal in baseball is to be a Starting Pitcher in the MLB.  Another goal is to attain a degree from a top tier D1 college while helping lead that team to a College World Series appearance as a Friday Night Starter.  Additionally, I want to lead my HS Team to Back-to-Back State Championships in MO these next two years!

I am the son of an Army Officer and have lived in Honolulu, HI for the past 3 years (2014-2017) - but, we relocated to the Kansas City area in July of 2017.  I will be attending Staley HS in KC MO - Excited to play for David Wilson and the Staley Falcons Baseball team!  There are a lot of schools I am interested in - I am not constrained by a specific region.  Although I would call Minnesota my home (where most of my family still lives), I have lived all over the country and am open to any location.  Because we have moved a lot and I have attended a total of 7 schools, I feel like I can adjust quickly to situations and am very resilient.  This resiliency helps me on the mound - as I am able to focus and rebound quickly after a bad pitch, play, or hit.

I had a very solid year as a Sophomore Starting Pitcher in Spring of 2017 for the Mid-Pacific Institute Owls of the Interscholastic League of Hawaii (ILH).  I made big strides throughout the year and was very happy with my control - my strikeout to walk ratio (3.3 to 1) ranked at the top of the league.

I began playing with the Complete Game KC Tigers immediately upon arriving to KC MO, and have had great success in the three tourneys I played with them (Prospect Wire Music City Classic 16U (29JUN-2JUL), the Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) Showcase (6-9JUL), and the Mid-America 16U World Series at University of Missouri (13-16JUL)).   My strikeout to walk ratio has been phenomenal (11.5 to 1) and my opponents batting average is at .177.

I'm also playing for Mitch Spiers' Team California.  I played in the 17U USA Nationals West with Team California 2019 (16-13JUN) and at the PG 17U World Series (20-24JUL).  I plan on playing with them again at the 17U Arizona Fall Classic.  Again, my control and command have really been impressive with Team Cal against very good competition; my strikeout to walk ratio is at 14 to 1 and opponents batting average is at .040.

I've hit the books hard my sophomore year to increase my GPA from 3.2 to near 3.5.  I plan on continuing to work hard on ACT/SAT Prep this summer while I continue to get stronger/faster.

  • 5/06/17 to 5/07/17
  • 2019 RHP Carter Rustad of Mid Pacific Institute FBT89, sat 87-88 at PW #Hawaii Scout Day. Arm works well. Has a chance to be a power arm. Everything around the plate. CB and SL for strikes. Both pitches need to be thrown a little tighter and he will be a big time 3-pitch guy.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2017 Under Armour Pre Season All American Tournament
  • 1/13/17 to 1/15/17
  • 01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament: Carter's skill set both on the mound and as a shortstop will provide great value to whatever team he plays for. He shows fluid actions in the field with agile movements and athleticism to field moving to both sides. He has quick hands to get rid of the ball and his strong accurate arm allows him to make tough plays. He's on time at the plate with good balance through his swing. He is quick to the ball with extension through contact to hit hard line drives all over the field. He features a true 3 pitch mix including a mid 80's fastball (85) with hard downward action, a 10-4 curveball with bite and a changeup with run he shows feel for. He is athletic in his delivery with sound mechanics and pounds the zone with strikes, attacking hitters to induce weak contact and get outs fast. Carter is a game changing player wherever he plays.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2016 Trosky Hawaiian Holiday Showcase Camp
  • 12/17/16 to 12/17/16
  • Pitching Comments from Dave Nakama (Current Treasure Valley CC Head Coach and Former San Jose State Head Coach): High 3/4 Delivery - Good Loose Arm - FB 84-85 mph w/ASR - Good Feel for Change Up (76 mph) - Slider - 74 mph. Good Mechanics. "You have a good arm for a SOPH (underlined) w/Good Pitchability - Avoid VELO at Expense of Movement. I Believe you have a Chance to Pitch at Next Level (Circled NCAA D1)" - Dave Nakama ([email protected]).
  • Camp/Event
  • SoCal Team USA NTIS Tryouts and Tournament
  • 8/18/16 to 8/21/16
  • Selected after several try-outs as a RHP, youngest player on this 16U SoCal Team. Displayed 84-85 MPH fastball at tryouts in Orange California and Riverside California in June 2016 in front of over 15 D1 coaches.
  • Camp/Event
  • UA Baseball Factory National Tryouts
  • 8/14/16 to 8/14/16
  • Has participated in 4 National Tryout events (UA BF comes to Hawaii 2x a year). All evaluations can be found at my page: http://members.baseballfactory.com/player/_/105903/
  • Camp/Event
  • Paradise Showcase
  • 8/01/16 to 8/02/16
  • Annual showcase event in Hawaii with D1, D2, D3, Junior College coaches from Washington, Colorado, Oregon, Texas, and Hawaii. Displayed a consistent 83 mph fastball while hitting 84 as a high velocity.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West
  • 6/28/16 to 6/29/16
  • One of a very few 2019's at this Showcase. 06/29/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Carter continues to shine with a bright future on the diamond. At the plate, this 1B shows an athletic setup. His hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) generating bat speed through a direct and level swing path. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizes all fields, and displaying gap to gap pop. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. His glove action is soft and sure as he consistently shows the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. His hands and feet work well together through the fielding process. On the bump, he had a solid showing at the event. He attacks hitters, throwing a lot of strikes as he works to get ahead of hitters through a quick tempo. His fastball showed in the low 80mph range with solid arm side run. His breaking ball displays 10-4 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. With 3 years to further develop, Carter will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his baseball tools. Please View my profile page at http://members.baseballfactory.com/player/_/105903/ for my evaluation.
  • Camp/Event
  • University of San Diego Prospect Camp
  • 6/26/16 to 6/26/16
  • Participated in the USD Prospect Camp as a Pitcher Only. Displayed high velocity of 85 mph.
  • Camp/Event
  • Team Hawaii Tryouts
  • 5/28/16 to 5/28/16
  • This tryout is conducted annually to develop a Junior and Senior Fall Classic team consisting of the best High School Baseball Players in Hawaii. I was selected as a RHP / SS for the Junior team (one of very few 2019s selected for that team) - I will unfortunately not be able to participate due to a family committment that weekend.
