Summer 2020 - Week 1Personal Statement
My name is Carson Pomeroy, and I'm rising senior in the Class of 2021 at Lee's Summit High School in Lee's Summit, MO. My ultimate goal right now is to have a chance to continue my baseball career at the college level, and advance my academics. After college, I want to to be able to take the information I've learned as an athlete and turn it into a career where I can help young athletes get the most out of their abilities. Some of my career interests are personal training, physical therapy, athletic training and coaching.
In the classroom I was a late-bloomer, but things changed the summer before my junior year. I really started working hard in school and it paid off with a 3.50 GPA in both 1st and 2nd semesters during my junior year, making the Principal's Honor Roll both semesters. My overall high school GPA may still not be where I want it, but I plan to keep working hard school my senior year.
My primary position is Center Field. One college coach recently said I was "built to be a CF". One of the things that sets me apart from other Center Fielders is my ability to read and track the ball off the bat. I don’t think there is a ball hit that I can’t get to.
I am not a big guy, but I play a lot bigger than I look. I can beat out a routine grounder (my most recent home-to-first time is 3.76), and I can also drive the ball to (and sometimes over) the fence. On the base paths, I really like to get in the pitcher’s head. There is not a base I won't steal, including - in the right situation - a straight steal of home (which I have successfully done 3 times in the past year). I will always leave everything I have on the field and be the best I can for my team. That's what I'll bring to your program. I look forward to hearing from you and having the chance to prove to you and your staff that size does not matter.
