I have always loved to play sports. Playing sports is my favorite activity, whether It is school sports, independent or park leagues, tournaments, or just pick-up games in my free time. I have participated in organized sports ever since I have been old enough (baseball, basketball, football, soccer, etc.). I like the challenges involved in sports, and I don’t want that to end when I graduate high school. I am continuously trying to improve myself through practice, physical workouts, strength training, and by playing sports every chance I get. I also like the teamwork involved in sports, helping and supporting each other and the commitment of working together to accomplish a shared goal.
As I have played various sports over the years, I am often placed in positions of leadership. I was the quarterback when I played football, I am usually a point guard when playing basketball, and often play shortstop in baseball. I am used to running plays and guiding teammates during games when needed.
While I like to play virtually all types of sports, baseball is my favorite and I would love to continue playing beyond high school. I realize I don’t have the overpowering natural talent that tends to attract the attention of coaches and scouts; but, I am a good athlete and understand the game of baseball better than most players my age. I have been a varsity starter in baseball since my freshman year. I am a smart and reliable player with good infield skills and even better ability in the outfield. Most would probably consider me a utility player. I can play every position and have experience at every position with the exception of catcher. In high school, I have played mostly middle infield, but also some outfield. I have also pitched some. I am a good hitter and an excellent baserunner. I am still growing, getting stronger, and consistently improving. I am working hard to improve my hitting consistency, power, and arm strength. I believe I have great potential and expect to improve a lot my senior year.
Academically, I am a straight-A student. I especially excel in math and science. I have taken multiple dual-credit courses through Ozark Technical Community College and Drury University, studying fire science and completing some general education requirements. I plan to continue studying fire science and eventually become a firefighter. I also plan to attend college to obtain a second degree in another field. I currently volunteer in my community through the Youth Empowerment Program and at the Seymour Fire Department.
