Personal Statement
From the moment I picked up that fat, yellow, plastic bat in my grandparents backyard, I was hooked!
I have always been a huge lover of sports. By the time I was in first grade I had already tried baseball, soccer, gymnastics and tennis. If the YMCA offered it, I was willing to try it. There were aspects of every sport that I liked, but it was baseball that I truly fell in love with. Once tee-ball was over and real baseball began, I tried a few different positions on the team. I played shortstop and second base for awhile, but it was pitching that I really excelled at. Being a lefty pitcher and hitter has always been a skill set that I have been proud to bring to each team that I have played for throughout the years.
Attending a small school in a town of about 1,275 people isn't exactly ideal when you are trying to get noticed in your sport, but I don't let that stop me. I work on honing my baseball skills year-round by playing on teams in the fall, spring and summer which makes my only true off-season, the winter. In the winter I stay busy training by attending pitching, hitting, fielding camps and clinics. I plan to finish out my high school years staying dedicated to my studies as well as my sport. I want to concentrate on keeping my grades up so I can continue to stay on the honor roll as well as continue to be a team leader in baseball. My coaches and teammates know they can count on me to always be supportive, encouraging and knowledgeable about what to do at every spot on the diamond. I am dedicated and aggressive and I won't stop until that final out. After graduation I plan to study sports medicine in college and would love to continue playing baseball at the next level.
