Personal Statement

My name is Connor Reed, a 6'3", 170 pound, four sport athlete and honors student who loves to play baseball.  I have lettered in football and track since my freshman year, and basketball since my sophomore year. During my freshman year our football team won the Nebraska Class C1 Football Championship and as a sophomore, I qualified for the Nebraska State Track Meet Class B in the triple jump and 4x400 relay.  Baseball, however;  is my favorite sport and I have played since second grade. My high school does not have baseball as a spring sport, but I have played six years of Coach Pitch , two years of Little League, two years of Pony Baseball, and Pierce American Legion Baseball since eighth grade. As a Pony I started both years and played up with the Junior Legion team, as a Junior I started both years and played up with the Senior Legion team.  Last season I led both the Junior and Senior teams in hitting percentage and RBIs.  I was also selected to the Ralph Bishop League All-Star team twice as a Pony, and twice as a Junior Legion player. Last season my team won the North Division Championship in which I was the winning pitcher, but we lost to the South Division winners in the League Championship game. Devotion to the game, a strong work ethic, determination, and perseverance are qualities I exhibit at each practice and game.

Athletics is very important to me, but academics is also a significant part of my life.  Both my parents are teachers, so education has always been a focal point for my family. I have been on Principal's Honor Roll for the past five semesters and have earned an Academic Letter the past two years and was selected to the Nebraska Academic All-State in Track and Field in 2010. Additionally, I have been a member of National Honor Society for the past two years and Student Council for five years. Quiz Bowl, Boys Letter Club, Young Gentlemen's Club, and current Junior Class Vice-President are other activities I participate in. In 2008 I was selected to represent Pierce Jr./Sr. High at the University of Nebraska Breakfast for Champions. Selection was based on good character, leadership, and academic qualities; all things I pride myself in and take very seriously.

It has been a dream of mine to play baseball at the highest level possible and receive a baseball scholarship at the college level. My career goal is to be an architect or some field of architecture. I have no specific geographic location or division level in which to look at in finding the right school, so I am open to many different schools in a variety of locations. My ultimate dream would be to play DI ball, but I am open to all levels. Playing baseball in college is what I want to do. Even though my parents as teachers do not qualify for financial assitance on the FAFSA, my sister and I graduate next year and my oldest sister will have 2 1/2 years of college left, so receiving a scholarship to play baseball will definitely help me with college expenses.

If you are looking for a solid academic and athletic baseball player, one who is a leader and dedicated, hard working, enthusiastic and passionate about the sport of baseball, you can count on me.
