Personal Statement

I love the game of baseball, every aspect of it. My ultimate dream is to play major league baseball, though having an education and continuing to play baseball is all that I can ask for. After college I want to stay around the game of baseball, I have always found it fascinating. I love to learn more about the game and new ways that I can get better.

I have been playing baseball ever since I can remember. My dad used to bring me to my towns high school games on a regular basis when I was young. I was at the state finals game in 2001 where the team brought home the schools first title in a while.Ever since I saw the high school guys play I used to think that it would be amazing to be one of them. Now that I am a high school baseball player I have realized that it is amazing and I have enjoyed every second of it. I made varsity as a freshman and found playing time throughout the season. The team was in great shape and we made it to the state semi-finals game where we lost. The following year I started in right field and we went on to win the state title. This upcoming season we are looking to fight for a repeat.

When I was eleven my dad gave me the opportunity to play AAU baseball for the Concord Cannons. It was with the Cannons that I learned how to play baseball the proper way. My first two seasons with the Cannons were fun, even with the struggles that the team had. My third season was great. The team came together with some new players and we went on to win the U13 AAU New England tournament. The following year wasn't as successful as we played five hundred baseball. My U15 year last year was a turn around. We went on to play for the New England title once again. This was just a couple of months after my high schools state title victory. We ended up losing the New England finals game, though it was quite the accomplishment to make it back to that stage. A personal accomplishment last season with the Cannons was that I was selected to the leagues all-star team.

Throughout high school I have taken on various leadership roles throughout my school. My teammates elected me to be a captain of my schools varsity soccer team that I am the starting goalie for. I was selected by faculty members to be a member of my schools new leadership team (IMPACT), the groups mission is to make sure that school is a fun and positive place to be. I was also elected to my schools Student Council by my graduating class. This council is in charge of setting up activity days like field day, spirit week, and earth day. Members of the Student Council elected me to be the Student Council representative on Site Council which is our schools governing body. At this point in time I am also trying to join another group within the school that has no student representation.

Over this winter I have participated in an Extended Learning Opportunity (ELO) which allows me to learn about something that I am interested in that my school doesn't offer. My ELO was for sports management. I got to work with my schools athletic director and learn what he has to deal with in his job.

Throughout high school I have been on honor role every semester of every year. I have maintained a 3.5 GPA so far and I am looking to improve upon that. I am ranked as fifth in my class with the 3.5 GPA but once again I am looking to bring my GPA up. A teacher in my school also nominated me for the Student of The Year award of 2013 that is handed out by a community group called Pittsfield Listens. I ended up winning the award and am proud to call myself a student of the year. Along with the Student of The Year Award I have been accepted to the National Honor Society and I am on pace to become a New Hampshire Scholar.
