Personal Statement
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement. Let me tell you a little about me:
My parents say that I have had a ball in my hand since I was first able to hold things. Balls have always been my toy of choice and even today I prefer a ball and glove over a video game controller.
I have played baseball since I was 4 years old. I tried football (flag football) and lacrosse. While these sports were fun, but they never gave me the same feeling I get when I step into the batter’s box, on the pitcher's mound, or tagging a runner out at 1st base.
I started playing on my first travel team at 7. My teams have won games, lost games, won tournaments, lost tournaments, and always as a team. I put 100+ percent of myself into every game. That is my responsibility as a player and teammate.
I have trained privately and with my teams every week, year-round, for the past 7 years. I work on hitting, game fundamentals, fielding, strategy, and pitching.
I am very lucky to have been coached by people that love the game, played as kids and adults, been drafted, played or are now playing in the minors and the majors, and even from those who work as MLB scouts. This exposure and experience have been priceless.
Some of my proudest moments in baseball so far have been:
Hitting my first home run at the age of nine, 200 feet over the center field fence - we won our Little League district’s game.
Being selected to play for a team that traveled to Cary, NC to compete in USA Baseball 11U Futures tournament and selected to represent the team in the event’s home run derby.
In 7th grade being selected by my middle school coach to compete in the district's all-star team. These spots are reserved for 8th graders but my stats were better then most of the other 8th graders on the team.
Competing in Cooperstown, NY against 104 teams and finishing in third place overall. Also, being selected by my teammates to compete in the home run derby; hitting 6 out of 10 home runs to clinch third place in the derby finals.
Just after turning 13, hitting a triple to the right field fence at the Lakewood Blue Claws minor league stadium.
Somethings you may want to know about me if not already apparent:
I LOVE baseball! I work hard, train hard, and I am always willing to go the extra mile to get better.
LEFTY all the way.
Everyone tells me that I am a very "trainable" and “coach-able" player.
My goals include playing baseball in high school, making the varsity team and playing ball in college.
I would love to make it to the major leagues someday. Always dream big!
I plan to study engineering in college because I enjoy creating and building things and solving problems.
Wherever and whatever I end up doing in my life I know that I enjoyed getting there and had a lot of help along the way.
My parents and sister are my biggest fans and they have made many sacrifices for me to play baseball.
I am very self-confident person. I prefer right over wrong, good versus evil, and share my parent’s values in helping others regardless of what you get in return.
I hope, after learning more about me, you continue to keep your eye on my progress. I have a lot more development to do and the drive and motivation to get it done. Who knows, I may be playing for your team some day! For now, here are some highlights from the prior years.
