I am a conscientious, hard working student athlete who always strives for excellence. Whether it be on or off the field I am always giving 110%. I am looking for a college program that can support and create a healthy balance between athletics and academics for me, as both are equally important. On the field, I am always trying to make the best possible decision for the team, helping in any way I can. I consider myself to be a very intelligent player and love being able to take control of the game behind the plate, helping my pitcher. When at bat, I always try to stay humble at the plate and know the umpire’s strike zone, trying to drive the ball somewhere in the gap. With my precise pitch selection, I have been able to preserve a high on base percentage and have quality at bats.
In all aspects of my life, I always take pride in my work. In school, I always try to be prepared and ready for tests to the best of my ability. The same lesson applies to baseball, I always try to get in extra reps so that I am ready for the big situations when my team needs me and I can help pick my teammates up when they are struggling. Entering college I can promise to bring a strong work ethic and outstanding time management skills. Along with baseball I also play Travel and High School Ice Hockey. Trying to balance time between training for two sports and school work has never manufactured problems for me or my grades. These skills will not only be helpful to me in college but will also carry over and help me in life. By participating in high level, competitive sports for the majority of my life has truly helped me develop my strong work ethic and drive to perform to the best of my ability. I feel this will make me an asset to any team I am on, whether it be in athletics or in life.
One thing my coaches have always talked about is my ability to separate my offense from my defense. If I’m struggling behind the plate one day, I am able to clear my head and help my team produce offensively. The same applies vice-versa defensively. I can still help my pitcher out by throwing out or back picking runners on the bases. There is always a way for myself as a catcher to help out the team. It would be an honor and my dream to play baseball at the collegiate level. My goal is to attend a college that supports my academic aspirations but also helps me to further my craft in baseball. I promise to continue to strive for excellence and be an asset to your program.
