Personal Statement
Preparation, hard work and humility are the keys to success. I strive to achieve success in every aspect of my life. When I am faced with obstacles, I dig deep and find the strength I need to overcome them. Baseball has taught me how to do that.
I played Little League Baseball at age 5 through age 12 and fell in love with the sport. I started playing Travel Baseball at age 10 and continue to do so today. Growing up, I would watch the MLB Network and study the game for hours. Baseball is a thinking game and it requires a ton of discipline. The game is not always about success.....it also teaches you how to cope with failure. I am better equipped to handle any curve ball that life throws at me because of the lessons I have learned from this sport. At age 11, I was on a Travel Team. I was cut from the team and was faced with the challenge of earning a spot on a new team. I could have buried my head in the sand and rejected the change but instead, I approached the transition in a positive way and continued to improve my game. My self confidence has grown, I have developed great leadership traits and my skill level continues to increase. I currently do private hitting lessons, private pitching lessons, agility and strength classes, arm care seminars and weight lifting sessions. I have baseball to thank for blessing my life with so much positivity.
I aim to graduate High School with honors and I hope to be able to attend the college of my choice. My sights are set on a Marketing Degree as of now. I am currently taking elective classes in this field to complement this area of study.
I strongly believe I would be an asset to any college team based on my definition of success. I have the drive and the patience it takes to be a successful athlete and I have the ability to encourage my teammates through positive reinforcement to do the same.
