Personal Statement

The game of baseball has been instilled in my soul  at a very young age of 6  years old where I noticed and admired that baseball is different than any other sport. I recognized that it is the only sport in which the defense has the ball and where the only player who truly controls and sees the entire field is the catcher. At that  point I knew that I needed to learn this unique position. As years passed and little league and travel ball consumed my parents’ lives, I wanted to get better at catcher as well as have become a hitter consistently hit the ball hard using all parts of the field.  Dreaming at night of either throwing behind a runner and picking him off or nailing a runner at 2nd, catching was truly my passion along with smashing a bases clearing double that gets to the fence in the gap quicker than a Chapman heater. Playing at a highly rated academic school as well as a truly dynamic baseball school, Xaverian is always ranked high in all of CHSAA in NYC.  As a Freshman I was moved to JV and have been starter there for the past two seasons and was named Captain this past season as a Sophomore. This season ended when we lost 1-0 to Stepinac in 9 innings at SJU for the NYC Title . The Varsity went on to win it all beating Iona Prep 5-0 . I share this because I now will have the opportunity to be that guy who leads the Varsity for the next two seasons and hopefully continue a winning tradition at Xaverian through my leadership and controlling the game from behind the dish . It will be this next 24 months that will define my ability to lead on the collegiate level and be a difference maker bringing real knowledge and experience with a winning formula for success to my college baseball program and rest assure I will make it happen.
