My name is Grayson Van Wie. I've been playing baseball since I was 4, and it has become my life. I play school ball at Chatham High school as well as club ball for the Greene County Outlaws, and I have been told that I have had a "consistent positive impact" on those teams.
Considering my size, my presence is usually noticed by my teammates. I have taken up leadership roles throughout my life (outside of baseball as well) and I enjoy doing so. One thing coaches may admire about me is that I believe myself to be a team player. I consider baseball a team sport. I will always be the first to defend my teammates and the first to pick them up. I've noticed that I have matured with age. If I were to strike out or make an error, I'd find myself frustrated, but not for the reason one would expect. I'd be frustrated that I could not contribute to the success of the team, then quickly shake it off and focus on what I could do in the future of that game.
My academic ability has remained consistent throughout high school so far, in which I have been maintaining a 95.4 overall average of the combination of all my classes. I take my schoolwork just as seriously as I do baseball because I know that they are both building blocks for my future.
I am extremely grateful to be able to play the greatest sport in the world at any level, and I am hoping that I can continue to pursue my passion in my adult life.
