Personal Statement
My name is Brendan Eising, and I am a member of the Class of 2021 at Deer Park High School in Deer Park, NY. I’ve played football, wrestling, and baseball throughout high school, but baseball is the sport that I excel at and love the most. The highlight of my baseball journey was when I was selected to play for USA Baseball’s North Texas Regional Team in the NTIS in Cary, NC at the USA Baseball National Training Complex. Having the opportunity to play with such talented baseball players was an awesome experience that has motivated me to want to continue to play baseball after high school at a higher level. Knowing that I want to play baseball in college and understanding the importance of good grades, I strive to get in the 90s on all of my tests and projects and challenge myself by taking AP and honors level classes. I have learned to juggle my time and responsibilities to be successful both academically and athletically. I maintain a straight-A average in the classroom, and I was honored to be one of only two sophomores to be selected to the varsity baseball team where I was a starter at first base during 10th grade. During my junior year, I was again named the starting first baseman again, but then our season was cancelled due to the pandemic. Having lost a year of high school baseball because of the pandemic makes me really want to play in college even more, and I'm working hard to be able to do that. I’ve spent my time during the pandemic quarantine working out, running, and working on improving my game—I wasn’t the guy playing video games all day long.
My goal is to attend college and major in education while playing baseball at the most competitive level that I can. I work hard to be a straight-A student, and I intend on demonstrating the same hard work ethic in college both in the classroom and on the field. In addition, I’ve been selected to be the captain of a number of the school teams that I’ve been on, and I plan on bringing these leadership skills to my college team and lead by example while being a positive influence on my teammates. I will strive to be an asset to the team in any role that I am needed in. While playing in college, I will continue to conduct myself with honor and respect the game, my teammates, my coaches, and my opponents while understanding that the way I carry myself reflects on my team, my coaches, and my school.
