My name is Brett Siegal. I am a sophomore at Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School in New York, a left-handed pitcher, and I want to play at the collegiate level.
I have been playing baseball for as long as I can remember. My love for the game is evident whenever I play and talk with friends. I owe so much to baseball — close friendships, a dedicated work ethic, tremendous life lessons, and amazing memories. I have always worked tirelessly to fulfill my aspirations.
Over the past months, however, I have dedicated myself even further toward playing baseball at the next level. Although I have always worked hard, I knew I needed I step up my level of dedication to achieve my goals. My work with a new trainer, pitching coach, and nutritionist has already produced results. My velocity has increased 5 mph, and I have added ten pounds of weight in just a couple of months. To be clear, I do not plan to stop here and am extremely dedicated to going above and beyond.
While I know I need to get bigger and throw faster, I am not just a thrower. I am a pitcher in the truest sense, using an assortment of pitches, pitch location, and strategy to retire batters. I am also a tenacious competitor. I want the ball late in games against the best teams. I won't back down in the highest pressured, most nerve-wracking situation.
As devoted as I am to playing baseball, I am even more diligent in the classroom. I have excellent grades (straight As) at a highly competitive private school in New York City. I pride myself on being such an accomplished student and am driven toward attend a strong academic school.
I am committed to playing baseball at the next level and am excited for colleges to learn more about me and discover how I can be a valued member of their program and institution.
