Personal Statement
When I first began playing the game at 7 years old, I recall my coach asking me, “Tyler do you mind playing catcher?” I replied, “Coach, I don’t care where I play, I just want to play baseball.” From this moment on, I have showed my versatility to play multiple positions. While primarily an outfielder, my coaches have always trusted me to be able to play where they needed me at any given moment. I am a team player and take a leadership role on and off the field.
I excel in base running and have been complimented for my ability to read the play as a base runner. As an outfielder, I have excellent communication skills and am viewed as a leader. I was the lead-off hitter for my high school JV team and hit in the number 2 spot on Varsity, consistently making hard, line drive contact.
My family has taught me the values of honesty, respect, hard work, and the importance of having a sense of humor. My father is a K-9 police officer and my mother is an elementary school administrator. Education is an important part of my life. I currently hold a GPA of 3.9 while carrying a work load consisting of four honors level classes. My work ethic, time management, and study skills have allowed me to be successful. My goal is to attend a competitive four-year college to pursue a degree in business then continue to further develop myself and become a lawyer.
As I grow both physically and mentally throughout my baseball career, I will strive to be an asset to the team on the field, at the plate, and off the field. Recognizing I represent the team, I will conduct myself with honor and respect. I am aware that there is excellent baseball to be played in all divisions of the NCAA. I am looking for a venue where I can continue to grow under experienced coaches, while playing at a competitive level of baseball.
