Personal Statement
Baseball has been a very important aspect of my life. My parents say I was throwing and hitting baseballs at the age of three and I do not recall a time in my life that I was not playing baseball. While Baseball has been very influential in my life, my family, my church, and my coaches have all instilled in me that hard work, dedication, and honesty can help me achieve my goals in life. Baseball has encouraged me to always do my best. But when I make mistakes I have to overcome my disappointment and move on, and not dwell on the mistake. I have learned that I am often harder on myself than my coach or my parents are on me. As the captain of my High School baseball team I encourage teammates to stay positive and move on when they make a mistake. I am a mentor to the younger players. I encourage and invite teammates to meet with me after school, during the season and the off season to practice. It is important to me that I continue to do well academically in high school, remain in National Honor Society, and that I challenge myself academically. In college my goals are to receive a well rounded education, continue to grow socially, and continue to be involved in school and community projects as well as achieve my career goal of Dentistry. I am a dedicated baseball player and a ten player. I am an excellent infielder playing first and third base with solid hitting skills. I am also a very crafty and capable pitcher with a fastball low to mid 80's, a good curveball, and a well developed change up. I am a hard worker, reliable, honest, and I have a good sense of humor.
