Personal Statement
We all want to say what a hard worker we are and the amount of time we put into baseball, and like many others I have spent hundreds of hours on the field and in the weight room. I feel I excel in many aspects of the game, and excel at being a leader of the team. I spend time every week watching film of myself hitting, and watching other people hit. I take swings every day, either on the field, in the cage, or in the basement. I lift weights 5 days a week, and have had 2-3 hours cardio 5 days a week the past three months during my wrestling season. I have just finished my senior season in wrestling where I won conference, regionals, and placed 3rd in the state competition. I am ready to commit myself now to baseball for my senior season, and the game for four more years in college. Things that I do well on the baseball field include putting the ball in play consistently in many different situations, weither it be for power, a bunt, or a hit and run. Also I have a very selective approach, I swing at my pitch and I don't go after pitchers pitches early in the count. I have a high on base percentage because of my approach at the plate. Also I am a solid defender, and I am always aware and thinking on the ball field, ready for any situation before it happens. Some intangibles about me include that I have not missed a day of school or practice since the third grade and I have never in my life missed a practice. I enjoy being a leader, I am known for being vocal in my support of my teammates and helping push them through tough spots on the field. I show up early and am usually the one locking the gate after practice. I started playing baseball when I was eleven years old, at the time I was the worst player on my team, and as competitive as I am I could not stand that. So I made a commitment to baseball, I decided I would work everyday to be the best baseball player I could possibly be and I have never given up that commitment. That is why I want to be a college athlete, I want to play at a higher level so that I can test myself against the best guys possible. I love this game more than I could possibly put to words, and I am very passionate about passing on the game to other people, I hope one day to be a coach. However as far as my schooling in college I am very interested in furthering my academic career by studying Athletic Training. I have decided that I want to get to the next level either as an athlete or as a trainer / physical therapist.
