My name is Josh Ingalls and I am a Senior at Cary Academy (CA) in Cary, NC , Class of 2023. CA is a 4A school that competes against the largest private schools in North Carolina. I am a 3-year starter for my HS Varsity Baseball Team (freshman year cancelled due to COVID) and am currently the starting SS, lead-off hitter and Team Captain on our team.
My overall objective for the next four years is to play for a school that supports my dream of obtaining a business degree, with possibly a sports management/marketing focus, and continuing to play the game I love.
I played multiple sports (baseball, basketball and soccer) from age 5 through my sophomore year. At CA, after a decent varsity sophomore season (batted 0.340 ) I decided to focus solely on my academic and baseball development, which resulted in raising my GPA to its current level GPA (3.5), and achieving an overall ACT score of 31. This additional focus also paid off in baseball where I batted 0.433 my Junior season, with a 1.013 OPS, 29 hits, 16 RBI, 5 doubles, 8 SBs, and a 0.958 FP (only 3 errors at 2B in the past 2 seasons). At the end of my Junior season, I was selected for an all-conference team and was also selected by my head coach, Coach Ray Pope, as our Team Captain for my senior season.
Between my Junior and Senior seasons, I continued to focus on my baseball skills but also worked on on my overall strength and conditioning, which has helped me to significantly increase both my infield arm velocity and bat speed. I am presently one of top shortstops and hitters in our conference batting 0.437 with 31 hits, 25 runs, 14 RBIs, 2 HRs and 13 SB, and a fielding % of 0.1000 (61 total chances).
I was also just selected to the All-Conference Team (1st Team) and also named Conference Player of the Year and All-State by the Conference coaches.
Outside of baseball and the weight room, I am finding time to both work and volunteer, and am especially proud of my recent volunteer work with the Miracle League which allows me to share my love of baseball with baseball players with special needs.
I look forward to learning more about your school and baseball program, and the opportunity to both 1) demonstrate my ability to succeed both academically at your university, and 2) help contribute to the overall success of your baseball program through my baseball leadership, knowledge, skills, flexibility, hard work, teamwork and commitment.
Thank You
