Riley Whittenberg '22 Recruiting Profile

My dream has always been to play baseball at the collegiate and hopefully professional level. My true passion is baseball but I also play football In high school. The desire to be the very best I can be is what drives me each day. I don’t shy away from practice. I’m cerebral in my approach to sports. Always watching, listening, learning and taking mental notes. Over the past year I have come to realize just how much I enjoy being on the field and competing. I was born with an hereditary condition known as “FAI” Femoroacetabular Impingement. Basically, in my case it’s when the ball & socket joint of the hip have extra bone growth and do not fit properly. In February of 2018 and again in April of 2018 I had to undergo hip surgery to repair this condition. Although I am perfectly healthy now the process to get back to playing took 6 months of being bed ridden and then another 6 months of intense conditioning. School has its challenges but I’m a solid “B” student, 3.50 GPA. I understand the importance that maintaining solid grades has both to myself and the team. College is the next step in the fulfillment of my dream and desire. I can’t wait to see where this part of my journey takes me.
