Matt Ward '14 Recruiting Profile

My name is Matt Ward from Hickory, NC and I am a 6’2” middle infielder/3B. My love for multiple sports has kept me active for as long as I can remember, but my love for baseball has kept me on the diamond all year round. I enjoy playing all positions on the field, but I currently start in the middle infield for my high school varsity team. I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to consistently play at higher levels. For example, I started at second base on my varsity team as a Freshman and moved to starting shortstop as a Sophomore. Also, my Sophomore year I was starting third baseman on our local Senior Legion team and played middle infield on our showcase team. I have a strong work ethic and am consistently recognized as a leader and team player. I am energetic, a competitor and a self motivator. I am looking for a university where I can fulfill my academic and athletic goals. I am interested in biology and animal sciences and I plan to pursue a career in marine biology and/or sciences. Additionally, I hope to join a baseball program where I can make early contributions to the team.
